Below the stucco walls on most homes, you’ll find a metal flashing barrier called a ‘weep screed’. This thin metal plate is perforated and unsealed so that moisture that wicks to the bottom of the wall evaporates instead of seeping under the foundation and causing mold/mildew.
Unfortunately, these ventilation gaps also allow easy access for scorpions to hide and in some cases, gain access to the home. Scanning the foundation around your home, especially near your weep-screed, should be a normal part of your hunting routine.
